There is something so warm about a project that turns sewing time into kindness, and this one does exactly that. In her latest tutorial, the lovely host of PastryQueen's Farm Adventures walks through the first block in a really easy Quilt of Valor design, and she is opening it up as a community project, inviting anyone who would like to to mail their finished blocks so she can piece them into a quilt and donate it.
Here is why this one is worth watching:
- A simple, generous block. The design is beginner friendly and quick to put together, which makes it a sweet pick whether you sew along on your own or as part of her community project.
- A meaningful purpose. Quilts of Valor are made and gifted to military veterans, and joining in with even a single block is a lovely way to send a little comfort and gratitude through your sewing.
- A friendly, welcoming teacher. She has such a warm presence on camera, and her clear, calm explanations make it easy to follow along whether you are confident with patchwork or fairly new to it.
Have you ever sewn for a charity project, or is this the kind of community sew you have been hoping to join in with? We would love to hear in the comments which causes are closest to your heart.
