There is a special kind of magic in the humble half square triangle, and this free pattern shows it off beautifully. Turning Triangles takes one simple unit, repeats it, and turns those little triangles this way and that until a bright, cheerful quilt appears. It is the sort of make that looks impressively intricate but is really very friendly to sew.
Here is why this one is worth making:
- It is all half square triangles. If you have been wanting to get comfortable with HSTs, this is a lovely, low pressure way to practise the same unit until it feels like second nature.
- A sweet, manageable size. The finished quilt measures 44" x 55", which is perfect for a lap quilt, a baby gift, or a cosy throw over the arm of a chair.
- Colour is where you play. The design comes alive in the way you place your lights and darks, so you can go bright and bold, or soft and calm, and it will look wonderful either way.
