There is something so calming about Kate's quilting videos at The Last Homely House, and this one is no exception. In her latest project Kate is starting a brand new quilt using beautiful indigo fabric she dyed with her daughter-in-law Anna, paired with her much loved "made fabric" approach of stitching scraps together, all coming together in a sweet Wonky Star block she has loved making time and again.
Here is why this one is worth watching:
- Two favourites in one quilt. Kate brings together hand dyed indigo and a stash of fabric made from leftover pieces, which gives every block a layered, lived in feel that is so lovely to watch come together.
- The joy of the Wonky Star. The block is forgiving and friendly, with no two points sitting exactly the same, so it is a really relaxing make and a sweet way to use up a varied collection of fabrics.
- That gentle, cosy storytelling. Kate's videos always feel like a quiet visit to a friend's sewing room, so you finish the watch feeling inspired and a little softer at the edges.
Have you ever dyed your own fabric, or worked with "made fabric" pieced from scraps? We would love to hear in the comments which of your past projects has left you with the most beautiful pile of leftovers.
