There is something wonderfully fresh and cheerful about Limeade, the sort of quilt that lifts a room the moment you walk in. A vivid lime green background sets the whole thing glowing, and against it sit rows of soft grey shapes with bright little pops of red, giving the design a crisp, modern, graphic feel that is every bit as striking on a wall as it is over the back of a sofa.
The quilt is built in columns of tall, lantern like shapes, each one pieced from triangles in a range of gentle greys and low volume tones, with slim accent strips running through some of them. Between these shapes sit small squares set on point in a punchy red, and the steady lime background floats the whole arrangement so every shape reads clean and clear.
Here is why this one is worth making:
- A bold, graphic look. The bright background and the calm greys play beautifully off one another, while those little red accents give the design real energy and a lovely sense of rhythm.
- A versatile size. At 56" x 59", it is very nearly square, which makes it just right as a generous throw or as a real statement piece on the wall.
- A joyful study in contrast. With a limited palette of solids and quiet greys against one vivid colour and a spark of red, it is a wonderful way to play with how colours work together and let a single bright shade carry the whole quilt.
