Why it works (it is not magic, it is the wool)
Pure wool holds heat. When your iron presses down from the top, the mat sends that heat straight back up from underneath, so your seam is pressed from both sides at the same time, in a single pass. No flipping the block. The dense wool also grips the fabric, so your block stays exactly where you put it instead of stretching or sliding. The result is flat seams, and points that still line up when you are done.
The old way: regular board, a spray bottle, press one side, flip, press again, and a seam that is still a little puffy.
The new way: lay the block down, press once, lift it. Flat. Crisp. On to the next one.
