Wool Pressing Mat 17" x 13.5" + Quilter's Clapper 2-Pack Bundle

A wool pressing mat and a pair of beechwood clappers, the two tools that do the most for a flat seam, in one box. The mat presses the seam from underneath while your iron works from the top. The clapper sets it once the steam is in, so it stays flat after it cools.

Why these two belong together

Pure wool holds heat. When you press down with your iron, the mat sends that heat back up from underneath, so the seam is pressed from both sides in one pass, and the dense wool grips the fabric so the block stays where you put it. Then the clapper finishes the job: steam the seam, press the clapper down firmly and hold it for a few seconds. The beechwood draws the heat and moisture out of the fibers and sets the seam as it cools.

Used together, you press once on the mat, clap, lift the block and move on to the next one.

Good to know

100% wool has a faint sheepy scent the first few times you heat it. It airs out, and it doesn't transfer to your fabric. Use the mat on a sturdy, heat-safe surface, not directly on a cutting mat or bare wood, because heat and moisture can mark them.
