Four cuts, four pieces moved one place clockwise, and a handful of small triangles that get thrown away. That last part is what makes this one worth watching, because almost nobody films the waste. Most tutorials quietly cut around it.
The Quilt Foundry starts with an ordinary four patch made from four 5 inch squares and then cuts it on all four diagonals, 1 and 1/2 inches out from the center each time. The measurement is the whole trick, and she says so by doing it slowly rather than by explaining it. She checks 1 and 1/2 inches at three separate points along every cut, at both ends and in the middle, so the line stays parallel to the diagonal instead of drifting. Get that wrong and the block will not close up when you rotate the pieces, and you will not find out until the last seam is in and the corners refuse to meet.
Everything after the cutting is assembly. Each corner piece shifts one position clockwise, the small triangles left over are discarded, and the block goes back together in three seams that all run on the diagonal rather than across. She presses so the seams lock into each other from opposite directions, which stops the pieces sliding as they feed. Then she trims to 8 inches by lining the 4 inch mark of the ruler up on the seams, and lays four blocks out deliberately unmatched so the pattern does not repeat square to square.

What earns it a place even if you have made a disappearing four patch before is that this is not the usual one. The familiar version cuts straight across the seams and turns four units by half a turn. This cuts on the diagonal, turns everything a quarter of the way round, and accepts a little waste in exchange for a block that reads on point without any of the pieces actually being on point.
