Level: Confident Beginner
Collection: Signature
Finished size: 60" x 72" throw, or 84" x 96" queen with two kits
Fabrics: Northcott / FIGO, 100% cotton
Techniques you will learn: Half square triangles with the 8 at a time method, stitch and flip, colour placement, precise piecing, traditional block construction

A Christmas quilt kit that arrives ready to sew. The Peppermint Poinsettias kit brings holly, poinsettias and peppermint swirls into a traditional holiday quilt, in rich Northcott and FIGO cotton, with every piece precut and the backing and binding already in the box.

Northcott and FIGO are known for deep, saturated colour that holds up wash after wash, and the deep reds and vibrant greens in this collection give you the classic Christmas palette rather than a novelty print you tire of by January.

What the kit includes

  • Precut pieces: every square, strip and shape cut by precision machinery, so there is no measuring and no cutting before you sew.
  • Backing fabric: included, coordinated to the quilt top, so there is no second trip to find yardage that matches.
  • Binding: precut binding strips, ready to join.
  • Extra pieces: spares of the parts most likely to go wrong, so one crooked seam does not stop the project.
  • Illustrated instructions: step by step, with visual aids, bold lettering on the steps that matter and coloured outlines showing the orientation of every piece.
  • Queen size instructions: included, if you buy two kits and want the larger quilt.
  • VIP support: direct access to our quilting team while you sew.

Please note that batting is not included, so you can choose the weight and warmth you prefer for the finished quilt.

Made for the confident beginner

This is a second or third quilt rather than a first one, and it is built to teach. You will make half square triangles eight at a time, which is the technique that turns a slow afternoon of trimming into twenty minutes of sewing. You will use stitch and flip corners, place colour deliberately across the blocks, and put together a traditional block the way it has been done for a century.

Matching the kit to your experience is the single best predictor of whether a quilt gets finished. The blocks here are generous rather than fiddly, the piecing is straight seams and triangles, and there are no curves, no applique and no paper piecing.

None of it needs a skill you do not already have. It needs a straight quarter inch seam, a sewing machine in good order, quality thread and a little patience at the pressing board. The precut pieces remove the part where most beginners lose accuracy, which is the cutting.

Precuts, and what makes this kit different

If you have quilted from precuts before, you know the standard bundles. A charm pack is 42 squares of 5 inches. A jelly roll is 40 strips of 2.5 inches. A layer cake is 42 squares of 10 inches. A fat quarter measures 18 by 22 inches. They save time at the shop, but they are generic sizes, and you still cut them down to whatever the pattern asks for.

This kit is cut to the pattern. Every piece arrives at the size its block needs, which is why the cutting time disappears instead of merely shrinking.

The second difference is what comes in the box. Most precut quilt kits include the quilt top fabric and the binding, then leave you to source the backing and the batting yourself. Here the backing is included and already coordinated to the top, so the only thing left to choose is your batting.

The fabric itself is 100% quilting grade cotton with a firm weave, the kind that survives repeated washing and still lies flat, which matters on a quilt you will pull out every December.

Two finished sizes

  • Throw: one kit finishes at approximately 60" x 72". Sofa sized, and the size most quilters choose for a first Christmas quilt.
  • Queen: two kits finish at approximately 84" x 96". The instructions for the larger layout come with the kit.

How a precut kit saves time where it counts

Cutting is where a quilt is won or lost. A rotary cutter running along a ruler over a cutting mat is accurate in good hands, but it is also the step that eats an evening, and a sixteenth of an inch lost on each strip compounds through every seam that follows.

With the fabric selection already made and every piece cut by machine, you open the box and start sewing. No matching prints across three shops, no yardage left over that you did not plan for, no long session at the mat before the first block. For a seasonal project with a deadline in December, that is the difference between a finished quilt and a stack of fabric.

Thoughtful packaging

Every precut in this kit comes in its own labelled bag, so you know exactly what is what from the moment you open the box. No guessing, no sorting, no spreading pieces across the table trying to work out which goes where. Once you have opened everything up, there is an extra storage bag to keep the pieces together between sewing sessions, so your workspace stays tidy and you can pick up where you left off.

VIP support while you sew

As a Signature Collection customer you have access to our VIP support team of quilting experts. Email vip@thefabrichut.com for priority help, including one to one video calls to walk you through any step, plus access to our detailed tutorial videos.

Here is why this matters. Most quilters who struggle do not lack skill, they lack confidence. The difference between a finished quilt and an unfinished one is almost never about capability. It is about having someone to turn to when something does not look right, when the instructions feel unclear, when doubt creeps in. When you choose a Signature Collection kit you are not just buying fabric and a pattern. You are joining a learning journey where finishing is the expectation, and you will come away having mastered at least one new technique.

Your lifetime zero risk guarantee

If you change your mind, whether it is next week, next year or five years from now, send the kit back with all the pieces and we will refund every penny. No questions. No time limit.

One important note: the guarantee covers you for as long as the kit is complete. Once you start sewing, those pieces become part of your quilt, and that does mean the kit can no longer be returned. So take your time deciding. The guarantee will be here whenever you are ready.

Questions quilters ask before buying

Is a quilt kit worth it? If you value your time, yes. You are paying for coordinated fabric selection, machine cut accuracy, the backing and binding you would otherwise buy separately, and instructions written for this exact quilt. What you save is the sourcing, the cutting and the guesswork.

Is this a good Christmas quilt kit for a beginner? It suits a confident beginner, meaning someone who has finished at least one simple quilt and can hold a quarter inch seam. A newer quilter can absolutely make it with the VIP support, and plenty do.

What do I need to supply? A sewing machine, quality thread, batting, and your usual pressing setup. Everything else that goes into the quilt is in the box.

How long does it take? Most quilters finish the throw over a few sewing sessions. Because the cutting is already done, the first block is usually sewn within an hour of opening the box.

Does it make a good gift? A quilt kit is one of the few gifts that gives someone a project rather than an object, and this one is packed to open well. The lifetime guarantee means the person receiving it is never stuck with something they do not want.

Will the fabric run out if I make a mistake? That is what the extra pieces are for. A seam that does not line up or a cut that goes sideways is not a crisis, you reach into the box and take a replacement.

Ready to sew this Christmas

Choosing the finished size first, then the skill level, then the theme, is how most quilters end up with a kit they actually sew. This one answers all three: throw or queen, confident beginner, and a Christmas palette that comes back out every season rather than a one year novelty.

The Peppermint Poinsettias precut quilt kit gives you the whole project in one box: quilt top, backing, binding, instructions and a team to ask when you need one. Fabrics are 100% cotton, from a smoke free and pet free environment, and stock of a seasonal collection like this one does not last past the holidays.

The Fabric Hut journey

The Fabric Hut is not just a quilting shop. It's a journey. Every kit you make is a step forward, every technique you master is a door opening to the next one, and every quilt you finish is proof that you've grown into a more confident quilter than the one who started.

That journey has three stages, and each one is designed to meet you exactly where you are.

First Stitch Collection

Our more accessible entry point into the Fabric Hut world. These kits use our own Fabric Hut fabrics, quilt shop quality, selected to the same standards as everything else we sell, and come with clear instructions, tutorial videos, extra pieces for peace of mind, and a 60-day guarantee. The First Stitch Collection exists for quilters who want to start with a lower investment without compromising on the quality of what's in the box.

Signature Collection

Where you are now. These kits use premium Northcott or FIGO fabrics, come with our Lifetime Zero Risk Guarantee, and give you direct access to our VIP support team with one-on-one video calls. Each Signature kit is rated by skill level, and each one teaches different techniques, so you choose your own path by picking the next kit based on what you want to make and what you want to learn.

Inner Circle

Where the journey becomes a relationship. By invitation only, reserved for the quilters who have made the Fabric Hut their home, Inner Circle members help shape the future of the brand, get early access to new kits, and are treated as part of the family rather than as customers.

You're in the Signature Collection now, exactly where the craft starts to feel like yours. Take your time here. There's no rush to move on. Every Signature kit is a complete experience in itself, and the journey will be waiting whenever you're ready for the next step.
